"AB 45 - Charter-party carriers of passengers, alcoholic beverages, open containers. Requires that bus and limousine drivers be held responsible for telling all underage passengers that drinking alcohol is illegal. If alcohol is being transported in a bus or limousine with underage passengers on board, a person at least 25 years old must be on board to guarantee there is no underage consumption."
Assembly Bill 45, law regarding underage drinking on party bus. Laws prohibiting underage consumption of alcohol in limousines and party buses.
New law was introduced by then-Assemblyman Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, after a minor from Burlingame was killed in a drunk driving accident. The 19-year-old had been drinking with friends on a Bay Area party bus and was driving home when the accident occurred.
Party bus operators who allow underage drinking on their vehicles face fines up to $2,000, license suspensions and revocations. Under the provisions of the new law, a chaperon 25 years old or older is responsible for anyone in the party bus who is not of legal drinking age.
Owners and operators of Red Eye Limo fully support the new law. There is Zero tolerance for under age drinking in limousines and party buses. We highly support and follow this bill and so do many other limousine companies in the Northern California.
Safety for our guest is our first priority. We want all our guests to have a great time and enjoy our services but we draw the line at under age drinking.
